Housing
The Opportunity Center contains 89 apartments in the four floors above the services centers -- 70 efficiencies for singles, 12 one-bedroom and 6 two-bedroom apartments for families, and 1 manager apartment. Residents generally come from the homeless or at-risk clientele of the services centers. While they are offered continuation of the supportive services delivered in the first floor centers, their continued residency in the apartments is governed by income guidelines and appropriate tenancy behaviors. It is anticipated that all of the residents in the apartments have incomes at or below 35 percent of median income (very low income).
The 89 apartments range in size from approximately 250 square feet to 548 square feet. There are two self-service laundries, one for the efficiencies and one for the family apartments. A community kitchen is also available to residents of the efficiencies. There are two outdoor decks, one for the family apartments and one for the efficiencies. Access to the housing units is limited to the occupants and their invited guests, with separate elevators serving the family apartments and the efficiencies. Twenty-four hour staffing is provided. Parking is available in a two level underground parking structure. The Housing Authority manages the apartments.
